Oh, so parental influence does NOT impact how a kid grows up? Well, that's a new one on me. And, by the way, this dirt bag was 14 --- it's not like he was a more "independent" age of 17, 18, or even 16. OF COURSE, the way he was brought up by his parents influenced who he was and how he turned out this way. Don't act so naive.

I raised two children, on my own. Their father CHOSE to stay away.......and not help in any way....Both of my kids are grown and married, and never into any criminal activity. These parents (all of them) have to be going through hell!! You can't blame the parents, because you know nothing about them. Some people are just born bad...plain and simple. At this point, you shouldn't point fingers. It may turn out that it is partially their fault....but it may not.

the friend's note told the family to "keep their heads up" ---- they need to keep their heads DOWN in shame for the rest of their pathetic lives ---- they raised this savage animal --- normal kids don't just turn into rapists / murderers at age 14 ---- clearly, something was wrong with the parents and with the home ---- that is, if he even had parents --- I doubt if he had a Dad at home -- or a Dad anywhere at all, for that matter ---- I am sure this is just one more of the garden variety single mom with no father figure at home who thinks they can raise a kid ---- and, invariably, THIS is EXACTLY what happenes --- every time ---- when will these women GET it?

How do you turn from "a safety-guy" to a murderer? Too many hormones? Not enough Right thinking? My heart goes out to the Family of this young girl.
